Green Energy Companies

As more people become concerned with the impact of human activity on the environment, a number of companies make environmental care a component of their corporate social responsibility. One of the means of becoming an earth-friendly organization is to go for more efficient and non-polluting power sources.

What are green energy companies?

There are two possible meanings attached to “green energy companies.” One definition refers to utility companies that produce and provide electric power from renewable energy for consumers. The other definition pertains to other organizations which opt for green power.

Why companies are going green

In general, the reasons why companies decide to go green nowadays are both environmental and economic. Here are a few of their motivations:

Earth-friendly and sustainable resources

Since corporate social responsibility is a company’s means of giving back to the community, choosing renewable energy over fossil fuel sources helps address problems on the depletion of natural resources and carbon dioxide emissions. In sum, present business operations do not have to be detrimental to future generations.

Green energy program incentives

Various governments encourage green living with a selection of incentive programs. The Canadian Office of Energy Efficiency at Natural Resources provides financial aid and grants to companies and individuals who want to invest on a green energy system. At the same time, the agency subsidizes home heating system upgrades up to $300 under its High Efficiency Home Heating System Cost Relief Program. In most countries, the government initiatives which promote green energy include tax incentives and rebates.
